Dear friends and families of Motion Pacific.
Today is a day dedicated to gratitude, a collective moment of reflection and acknowledgment for what we are grateful for.
Everyday I feel deep gratitude for the professionalism, dedication and talent in each one of the extraordinary instructors at Motion Pacific as well as the amazing and expanding community of students and families that have contributed so much to our success.
Since I stepped into the position of Owner/Director of Motion Pacific over a year ago, I am continually asking myself, “What is best for my students and staff ?”.
To that point, I am excited to announce that Motion Pacific is moving into a new facility.
The Plans
Work has begun at 131 Front Street, in the Mill Complex here in Downtown Santa Cruz, to create a new home for Motion Pacific that will boast two larger studios at 1200 and 1400 square feet each with brand new sprung ash dance floors. Additionally, Motion Pacific has partnered with Santa Cruz Dance to create a center for dance; to present weekend workshops, master classes and weekend performances of local and visiting dancers.
Santa Cruz Dance*, a community-based organization, is dedicated to supporting a culture where integrity, discipline and imagination are central to Dance as Art. Santa Cruz Dance presents National Dance Week Santa Cruz as well as the Santa Cruz Ethnic Dance Festival.
The core of the Motion Pacific’s program will remain the same with more space and time available to expand the program to take the discipline to another level.
What you should know
We will close our studio at the Art Center at the end of the current session on December 18th. We will reopen in our new location at The Mill, likely by the first week in February. I will send out regular updates, keeping you posted as to the progress of the renovation and the timing of our Winter/Spring session.
Because the opening date is still uncertain, thus not allowing us to set tuition for the upcoming session, I will ask you to save your class spot by making a $200 deposit and we will, send an invoice for your balance when a date is determined.
How you can help
This new space will support a program strong in Dance education, administration and presentation. This exciting partnership has provided us the opportunity to create an intimate dance performance space built around the foundation of Motion Pacific’s commitment to dance education.
Today, we are excited to launch a fund-raising campaign to raise the final $20,000 in order to complete this project.

Wishing you all a holiday season filled with food, fun, friends and family.
Warmly,
Abra Allan
